Each year I look forward to CareerXroads Sources of Hire study results. Why? Because it justifies what all the expert career coaches are saying.
We all know how turbulent 2009 was. The results of this study help point out several things:
51% of Full time jobs were filed by Internal Transfers and Promotions
26.7% of all external hires were from Referrals (#1 external hiring method)
22.3% of Hires attributed to the Company Website
The authors of the study state that hiring attributed to the company website an obvious flaw in sourcing. However, I believe that the message is getting out to job seekers that the job boards may not be the answer. The pro-active search method of identifying employers and targeting them for opportunities might be catching on. Social Media is also catching on.
Please, read the full study and come up with your own conclusions! Let us know what you think!
