If you are looking for news, you pick up a newspaper and/or turn on the TV. You probably have a favorite source for each. You also know the ones you dislike. There are some "news" reporters that drive me crazy. There is also a newspaper that is supposed to be local but only has one page dedicated to local news.
Finding blogs can be like channel surfing. You flip around and watch for awhile. It all started when I found one blog I really liked and then went to read the blogs she had listed on her blogroll. I added the ones I liked to my Google Reader. I continue to add new blogs each week.
I'm using Twitter (follow me, if you'd like) http://twitter.com/careersherpa . When I receive new followers, I check out their website/blog. I'll also watch what kind of information they are tweeting and if there is consistently good stuff, I might add their website or blog.
My recommendation would be to add new blogs to your reader regularly. This will increase the likelihood of your getting balanced information. One-sided or faulty information can be dangerous.
How do you find good blogs?

I usually come across good blogs when I search for information. There are two types of information: Stuff that Google already has indexed in it's main index and on the other hand new things that have not yet made it to the "normal" web. These things are usually discussed in blogs. Google does know about blogs too, but you have to select it's blog search engine at http://blogsearch.google.com/ - once I find a blog that provides me with an answer, I decide if it makes sense to add it to my RSS reader.
Another good resource is Technorati: http://technorati.com/
